VOLUNTEERThere are many opportunities to volunteer at our school throughout the year. Teachers, students and parents appreciate these volunteer efforts and they are an integral part of the school experience. For more information about volunteering, contact our Volunteer Coordinator Sharon Bland. If you have an interest in volunteering for a specific event, please contact the lead on that event as noted in the Contacts section. Thank you for your time!
Lunch and Recess Helper – Assist the lunch and recess staff by helping students during lunch and supervising recess. Since there are 3 lunch/recess periods this school year, volunteers should specify what day and time slot (11:15-12:15; 12:15-1:15; 11:15-1:15) they would like to volunteer for, and with what frequency. Also, the parent information sheet is now in the office, so when you sign-in, you can grab a copy. For more information, please contact the Lunch/Recess Coordinator, Joy Evans, at Joy Evans.
Volunteering supports the school and is a fun way to meet other parents. Most tasks are flexible and there are many ways you can help, even with time constraints. Here are just a few opportunities: Classroom Helper –Teachers often need help in the classroom, help preparing for a lesson by making copies, or assistance with special classes, e.g., help your child’s class when they go to art class. Contact your child’s teacher and see what help is needed. Room Parents – each class has two room parents, and they are responsible for working with the teacher to organize three parties (Halloween, Valentine’s Day and an end of the year party), collect donations for the parties, seek volunteers for classroom needs, collect updated parent information, and keep the parents updated on class events. To become a room parent, contact the Room Parent Coordinator Allie Giles. PTA project and event support – Each PTA event needs parents for staffing tables, creating bulletin boards, etc. Look for requests for help in the wildcats e-mails or contact the PTA member responsible for the event to see how you can help. PTA Officers – There are many different ways to serve the various PTA functions. Please contact the PTA officers of the functions that interest you. Each Fall, Principal Mrs. Gordon conducts volunteer training sessions. If you have not attended one of these, please contact Mrs. Gordon. |
